Is there something that can be done about scooters in stores to make sure they're used right?
I was at a Wal-Mart not long ago. They provide patrons (who need them) with riding electric shopping scooters. Two twentyish overweight (sisters?) RAN (literally) into the store to get the two scooters they wanted to ride before an elderly patron could get one of those two. Later I saw a guy that looked perfectly healthy other than overweight riding one in the store. I also saw elderly people in the store that looked like they could have used the scooters but they were all taken.
Now....I realize someone could have need for a scooter and not look like it.......so don't jump my case to tell me that. I already know. But.....if someone can RUN their lazy, oversize rearend to get to a scooter they want so they don't have to walk in the store, and someone else who really needs it has to walk......shouldn't something be said by somebody in management? There were a lot of people in the store that day, but I bet there would have been enough scooters to go around if used properly.
i completely agree with you. i used to work as part of home services at home depot, so while i wasn't their employee, my employer had me stand for endless hours at their store. One day an elderly man wearing his war veteran hat and a vest decorated with his war patches hobbled up to me with his cane and asked if he could please have a scooter. Hearing him ask me that, the extremely large 30 something woman standing behind him chatting with her husband quickly waddled over and took it from behind him. I couldn't believe it. Do overweight people realize they're overweight because they don't exercise? Walking while shopping is a great way to get exercise and get your errands done at the same time, so why don't they take advantage of it?
